Hepatotoxicity

SimuGen’s first product, due for launch next year, will analyse and predict ten sub types of liver toxicity. Liver toxicity is the most common reason for the failure of drug candidates. The SimuGen team has designed an experimental protocol that allows the collection of appropriate biological data, and has developed the software incorporating sophisticated mathematical algorithms to model the data and provide a prediction of the toxicity for any test chemical.

Novel Approach

Although toxicogenomics has the potential to reduce the heavy reliance on animal-based testing and improve the efficiency of drug development, current approaches fail to explicitly answer three important questions:

•How toxic is a chemical?
•At what doses will toxicity present?
•Can we use toxicity patterns to understand how changes in structure associate with specific toxicities (structure-activity relationships)?

SimuGen is the first to provide the tools to answer these questions using a novel toxicogenomics based approach.
